When Queen Victoria died on January 22,1901, the Victorian Era ended. This popular queen died at the age of 81. For 63 years, she had ruled the largest and most powerful empoire of her time as the Queen of England. In 1876, she had additionally been crowned as Empress of India. Queen Victoria was married to Prince Albert of Saxo-Coburg-Gotha. As her children and grandchildren married into the majority of the royal families of the continent, she was also called the "Grandmother of Europe". Her style was market by authority, strictness and dignity. These features also marked life in the Victorian Era and the upbringing of Queen Victoria's great-grandson, Prince Albert, the later husband of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon. The Queen Mum herself grew up in a new era. She had a carefree childhood full of love and warmth and enchanted her people as a Queen with her warmheartednes and charm.
