Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions and doubts.
What is Silveragecoins.com?
Silveragecoins.com is a free numismatic database and price guide with all the information on the most popular and collectable milled coins -especially in silver, but also in other precious and base metals- and an online shop where these coins can be bought directly at prices starting from under bullion value.
Our main goals are to provide a complete free database and price guide with all the information needed by coin collectors and investors, and offer an alternative to online auctions sites and highstreet dealers; allowing buyers to purchase any coins by direct sale at competitive prices and without having to wait for any coin to be auctioned, without the risk of losing the coins to other bidders, and without the hazards of having to buy from different and unknown sellers.
What type of coins do you sell?
We aim to offer as many different types of coins from the last two centuries as possible -including different years and grades; mainly in silver, but also in gold and other base metals.
During these last years our business has been steadily growing along with the variety of coins in our stock, which currently allows us to offer around 2,000 different variations of more than 1,000 types of coins from 80 countries. And our free database holds information on 20,000 variations of around 2,500 types of coins from more than 100 countries -all with their guiding price for all grades automatically updated in US Dollars, Sterling Pounds and Euros.
Can I see the coins before buying them?
Yes; through the individual detail pages of each coin you can find pictures for both sides of all coins in stock; these are pictures of the actual coins you will receive. Also, when avaialble, you can see different grades of each coin. All these pictures can be enlarged by simply clicking on them.
How many coins of each can I buy?
Even though we have replacement stock for many of the coins offered, the coins you see on the pictures are the coins that you will receive. Therefore, this implies that each coin is unique and there's only one of each for sale.
If you wish to buy more than one coin of a specific year and grade please get in touch with us to confirm availability and prices.
Are the prices updated?
Yes; all prices are always updated based on the current fixed rates for gold and silver in the international markets, to which a premium for each coin and grade is automatically added. Therefore, the prices you see for each coin are the final prices you will pay when making an order.
Can I check your performance / feedback?
Yes; we often offer excess stock on auction sites, and since these are impartial websites, you can check our performance and customers' feedback. Here you can access directly our Ebay profile page.
How do I place an order?
To place an order, simply add the desired item to the shopping cart, by clicking on the "buy" buttons; then review the order -making sure you have selected the destination and your currency in the submenu- and finally checkout with PayPal. Orders can be paid with your PayPal balance or without a PayPal account by using your credit / debit card.
Please don't forget entering the correct delivery address if you do not have a PayPal account; or if you do, check that the address on your PayPal account is updated.
As a reminder to you, we will never have access to any of our clients' personal or financial information entered during the checkout process; PayPal just forwards us the confirmation of your payment, the order, and the destination name and address.
Can I reserve any coins?
Due to the constant fluctuations in the prices of gold and silver, which affects directly the final price of our coins, we can't reserve any items nor guarantee future prices or availability. If for any reason you need more time -whether it is to decide if you wish to buy more coins, or you are looking to combine one of our auctions in the same shipment- you can make the order and then contact us to hold the shipment.
Please bear in mind that we are constantly raising the prices of our coins according to the increasing demand for some types of coins and the prices of gold and silver; therefore, the more you wait to place your order, the more chances you will have to pay higher prices for your order, and the higher the risk of losing the items to other buyers.
Adding any item to the shopping cart, and leaving it there without processing the order, does not guarantee the reservation of an item; since an order is not effective until it is paid and confirmed by PayPal.
Which countries do you ship to?
We aim to ship all over the world, but unfortunately we know of some problems with the postal service in some countries outside of the European Union (e.g. some countries do not accept signed for mail, do not accept insured deliveries, or others have delays far surpassing our guarantee). If you know about these problems with your mailing service, please consult with us before hand so that we can verify your situation and offer you any available alternative method of shipment.
What are the costs of shipping?
Spain | Europe | Worldwide | |
---|---|---|---|
US Dollars | $5.50 | $7.99 | $8.99 |
British Pounds | £3.99 | £5.99 |
£6.50 |
Euros | €4.99 | €6.99 | €7.99 |
We have a special offer for P&P by which you can buy any number of items at the same cost; which includes guarantee and insurance. All orders are shipped from Spain and the cost of shipping only depends of the area of destination; no matter how much it weighs or its total value. We will pay any extra charges for excess weight and additional insurance.
The website automatically calculates your P&P -once you enter your currency of choice (Dollars, Pounds or Euros) and the destination (Spain, Europe or Rest of the World), according to the price table on the right.
Can I combine auctions with shop orders?
Yes, if you wish we can send you your order along with the auctions you won -and therefore, pay the P&P just once. Unfortunately, we can't issue a combined bill for both -due to auction site's policies-, therefore you would need to pay for both bills separately: First, the order from the shop (with the combined P&P), and then the bill for the auctions (without P&P).
Which currencies do you accept?
We accept direct payment by US Dollars, British Pounds, and Euros; which you can select from any page on our website through the submenu. All prices throughout our website will be shown in one of these three currencies, depending on your choice.
Also PayPal's checkout process allows you to pay in any other currency, which will be converted into one of the three currencies accepted by us according to PayPal's currency conversion rates.
Please note that you cannot add to the cart items on different currencies; all the items need to be on the same one. If you wish you change the currency after adding items to the cart in another currency, simply delete them all and add them again in the currency you wish to use for payments.
What payment methods do you accept?
All the payments through our Shopping Cart are made by PayPal Secure Payments; which you can pay with your PayPal balance, or through any Credit or Debit Card without even having an account with them or with us. Alternatively, we now also accept payments by Bank Transfer; for which we have opened two bank accounts -one in the United Kingdom and another one in Spain. To make a payment by Bank Transfers please Contact Us.
To pay by PayPal, simply click on the “Go to Cart” Button (located on the right hand side of the header) and then click on the “Proceed to Checkout” button. Then simply enter your PayPal details, or enter your Credit/Debit Card details and address, and proceed to review the order.
PayPal accepts the following cards: Master Card / Eurocard, Visa / Delta / Electron, American Express, Switch / Maestro, and Solo (plus other local cards). Enter your details in the form provided and click on “Review your Order and Continue” to formalise the payment.
Please remember that we will never have access to any of your details; PayPal only confirms your order and sends us your name, email and the shipment address.
How long will it take for my order to arrive?
We aim to ship the next day after the payment has been confirmed by PayPal. However, once we send the order it all depends entirely on the postal services. It usually takes between 2 and 3 days to Spain, around a week for Europe, and from 1 to 3 weeks for intercontinental shipments.
What happens if my shipment is lost or damaged?
We send all shipments by signed for special delivery, and insured if the total amount of the sale is not already covered by default (only for countries that accept insured value; see list of countries). PayPal also offers all our customers 60 days to claim back the money if anything occurs, as all purchases are guaranteed by them; whether you pay with your PayPal account or debit/credit card. Therefore, in the unfortunate event that a shipment is lost or damaged, PayPal would return directly to your account or credit/debit card the total of the purchase, while we deal with the postal service to send us the compensation.
For insurance purposes, we recommend all our customers to inspect the shipment before signing its reception; making sure that all the stickers are intact and that there are no signs of the packet being opened, damaged or re-sealed with any additional adhesive tape.
Would you accept offers?
Yes; you can find the "Make an Offer" buttons at the end of the price list on all the detail pages for all the items in stock. Alternatively, you can send us an email detailing the coin, the year, the grade, the amount you would like to offer; plus a short explanation of why you think the item should be sold at a lower price. We will review all offers and answer as soon as possible.
Would you accept returns?
We do accept returns. Any item can be returned up to 15 days after its reception. However, since it is impossible to recover the P&P fees on a returned item, we will only make a full refund (including P&P) if the reason for the return is due to our fault; like a mistake in the shipment or description. In any other cases, the customer will be responsible for the shipping costs.
How can I know if my coins have any value?
Silveragecoins.com does not offer a valuation or appraisal service, however we do provide in our website a free price guide where you can find the guiding prices for almost 25,000 coins in every condition.
You can find this price guide at the end of the detail pages of every coin, or by clicking on the "Price Guide" button under the prices section on the same pages. The details pages can be accessed by doing a search through our Catalogue. If you wish to appraise different types of coins at the same time and obtain a complete list of prices, you can also use our catalogue lists by selecting the "Price Guide" option. We also have a New Price Guide that is accesible from the main manu of any page.
If you are not familiar with the different grades necessary to appraise coins, or if you have difficulties with these, you can find in our Help page a video-guide and a table that might be useful to you.
Would you buy my coins?
At Silveragecoins.com we are always looking for new coins to add to our catalogue, so if you have any kind of silver coins to sell we would be really interested in hearing any proposals you may have. But before you send us anything, please read carefully our conditions for mail purchases, which you can find in our help page.
